It’s Time to Delve into the 2012…
Spring Big Sweep!
Calling all volunteers who value clean water! Eleven sites are looking for
helping hands to clean creeks, streams, lakes and wetlands across Wake
County. Litter cleanups are scheduled for seven consecutive Saturdays in
seven different Wake County towns, beginning on March 17 through April 28.
There’s also a cleanup on Sunday afternoon, April 15th in New Hill.
To volunteer your time and energy, please click on the Spring Schedule,
select a site, and contact the Zone Captain to pre-register.

Once you are pre-registered, simply show up on the scheduled date to remove
discarded items that threaten our drinking water, recreational fun, aquatic
habitat, and the beautiful scenery of our waterways. All supplies are
provided by each site’s Zone Captain. A signed liability form is required
for volunteer participation. Volunteers must dress for the weather in
clothes that can get dirty and wet and wear closed-toe shoes. Zone
Captains are glad to sign community service forms for hours donated.
Wake County Big Sweep is part of the larger North Carolina Big Sweep–a
statewide citizen volunteer effort to make our environment litter-free.
Wake County Big Sweep is coordinated by Wake Soil and Water Conservation
District and implemented in partnership with Wake County, NC Big Sweep,
city & county parks, civic organizations, youth groups, schools, churches,
and businesses. Wake County Big Sweep is the result of hard work invested
by a host of local partners who care for clean water by taking direct,
